Meet Robert

Do you have a niche or special areas of interest?

My focus areas are Azure Security, Defender tools, DevSecOps, and Purview. I work at the intersection of cloud infrastructure and security, helping organisations build protection into their systems from the ground up rather than bolting it on afterwards.

Describe your ideal project.

I’m drawn to projects involving SIEM and SOAR migration, threat detection, and security automation. There’s real satisfaction in taking an organisation’s security operations from reactive and manual to proactive and automated, giving teams the visibility and speed they need to catch threats before they become incidents.

What advice would you give to an IT contractor at the start of their career?

Be brave and be flexible. The contracting path rewards people who are willing to step into unfamiliar territory and adapt as the work demands it. Don’t wait until you feel completely ready, take the opportunity and grow into it.

What are your favourite things about Umbrella Club?

Broadening my professional network. Being new to the community, it’s been a great way to connect with other IT professionals and build relationships beyond my immediate work.
